ピンナワラの象の孤児院
Pinnawala Elephant's Orphanage
ジャングルで親を亡くしたり、はぐれてしまった小象を５０頭あまりを保護している施設
私が見学した時は成人になった象、施設で生まれた象も沢山見かけた
育った象達は、寺院や、象使いのもとに引き取られる 動物園に引き取られる事もある

生後１週間位の赤ちゃん象 母親のお腹の下から出て来ない

少し成長した小象 鼻が短く見える

離乳したのか？ 自分で捕食する訓練中か？
|

|
水浴びの時間です 孤児院から近くの川へ隊列を組んで移動します 中々壮観です
|
|
象は水浴びが大好き 本当に気持ち良さそうです 中にはゴロンと横になる象もいます
|

生まれて間もない赤ちゃん象も母親の側で水に浸かってます
|
|
|
|

|
象の糞 殆ど植物しか食べないので、繊維質が多いい
|
|
大量に出る象の糞を利用し、紙を作製している 厚みのある、和紙の様で味わいがある 無臭
|
|
象が通る大通りあった土産物や キャンディアンダンスをする操り人形

Pinnawala - a safe refuge for Asian Elephant
Visit the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage the frst its kind in the world,
a unique place
where abandoned and disabled elephants get special care and protection,
they also enjoy
an exciting social life and total freedom. A special treat
would be to see them bathe and
feed the little ones. Pinnawala is also one of world's best
breeding centers as well.

ヌワラエイヤ周辺には美しい茶畑が広がっている

かなり急な山肌を開墾して茶畑にしてある 年間を通じ霧が発生し紅茶の生育に良い影響を与える

茶を摘む女性は出稼ぎ労働者が多い タミル人が多いそうだ

新芽を摘んで背中に担いでる籠の中に入れて行く 給料は出来高払いだから真剣に働いている

茶の苗の最先端が新茶の部分である 高級なものは、年に一度しか摘まない
|
|
大きな紅茶工場 ここに紅茶の葉を集積し、紅茶の製品を作製している

紅茶の製造過程 味をテストする課程もある

見学者は工場の一角で、紅茶を味わう事ができ、好みの紅茶を購入出来る

高級リゾートでもあるので、格式のあるゴルフコースがある
